Over the 12 days of this unique trek, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into another world.
In the high hills of
the beautiful Kotang area, south of Everest, people are living in much the same
way as they did hundreds of years ago. So rare are visitors that there are no
guesthouses; you’ll be staying in private homes or tents. The trek will take
you through picturesque, thatched villages where people grow their crops on
narrow terraces dug into the steep hillsides. Your destination – one such
village chosen just for you and your five companions, where no foreign visitor
has ever been before! You’ll be warmly received and will feel a sense of magic
during the ceremonies held especially for you.
You’ll
personally “adopt” six families and will gain great satisfaction from helping
to install lighting into each of their homes; one of the greatest gifts you
could possibly give to these poor, hardworking but cheerful people. You and
your companions will “light up” the school and the whole village. Almost half
of the fee for the trek will be used for this purpose.
